scratchy
Loaded up my first ever phunnel of Tang.Packed it to about the consistency of the packet with 2 cocos on top, but it's ripping my throat apart. Like breathing in burning plastic. What's going on? It smells good, so I don't think it needs acclimating

Tikhman
Break the cocos in half and use 3 halfs. if you're using something bigger than a small phunnel, you might a bit more heat.
antouwan
i would say that head is done. clean your hookah out completely and just start over. pack the phunnel the way that it's done in the video posted by NOB or, alternatively, mattarios' method of packing nakhla is identical to the way i pack both nakhla and tang lucid. (i packed a medium phunnel like this last night with excellent results for me and a buddy - four hours of great smoke.) if it doesn't work out let us know what's up. scratchy
Okay guys, will do. I thought I might have burned the hell out of the shisha, but the top layer is still very wet. It was that harsh on the first pull.I did have 3 cocos on the head for the first pull, but took one off immediately after.I have to relearn everything now
Tikhman
Tang has a tendency to be harsh both with too little and too much heat. Cocos give off A LOT of heat, I find 3 halfs to be about perfect for a small funnel.
demonix
Eric himself has said to break CCN's in half for Tangiers. I would trust the man, I'm pretty sure he knows what he is doing. lol
scratchy
So let's say my Havana is medium(ish)4 halves?
antouwan
QUOTE (scratchy @ Oct 31 2009, 12:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>So let's say my Havana is medium(ish)4 halves?i don't know how big a havana 'medium' phunnel is. for my tang phunnel i tossed on 5 or 6 halves with great results. i would tell you to light up 6 halves. start out with 3 or 4; take a few pulls, if you feel like you can add another half, toss one on, and just keep increasing gradually until you think you've found the sweet spot. That is all.don't get me wrong, it isn't the most exciting thing in the world, but it takes about 30 seconds and you get to enjoy the results for about an hour. pretty good investment to payout ratio if you ask me also, scratchy, glad you're enjoying it. NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
ya just scrap off the top burnt/used shisha and leave the rest in the bowl do not mix it back in when the regular shisha..and then next time you smoke just add a little more to the bowl and give it a swirl to mix it up nice and then begin packaging procedure..the drawback this has is if you only have 1 phunnel bowl and want to smoke a different tangiers flavor..if that happens and you dont want to waste what you have stored in the bowl for next time scoop it out and put it in a zip lock back and seal it tightly.. Chreees
I've always packed my Tangiers small phunnel according to the method mattarios2 uses for Nakhla, and I use four Coco halves just like he does. Hugest smoke I've ever gotten, and awesome flavor. This method never fails me. http://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=33144Hope this helps.
scratchy
Yah, that's the method I used for Horchata. My third session is waiting for me outside. I finally understand Eric's sig."It'll happen to you too"It has, from a session a day to 3 and I'm already planning on what to smoke after that. Orange soda smells acclimated, but I'm shit scared of F-Line.Oh ya, I still have that burning plastic taste, but I'm assuming it's the new hookah+hose+phunnel combo that's giving off the taste.
